Ultralight Raises $9.3M in Seed Funding

Apr 20, 2026 | By Startuprise io

Ultralight, a San Francisco, CA-based AI-native operating system for preventive and personalized care, has raised $9.3 million in a Seed funding round led by The General Partnership.

The round also saw participation from Wisdom Ventures, Anthemis, Emerson Collective, and GSBackers, among others.

The company plans to use this funding to strengthen Ultralight’s clinical intelligence, expand its protocol coverage, and hire its first dedicated sales team to support growing demand.

Ultralight gives clinicians one system that brings together the full patient story—not just notes and lab results, but also wearable data, tracked symptoms, and treatment plans across visits. Instead of using multiple tools, doctors can see everything in one place before meeting a patient. Its built-in clinical intelligence, based on a clinician-reviewed knowledge base, helps turn complex data into clear, personalized insights for better care.

Ultralight has been adopted by 75 clinics, growing mainly through word of mouth among clinicians. Over 1,200 clinicians now use the platform to reduce admin work, automate documentation, and spend more time with patients. About 60% of new users fully replace their old systems, showing that Ultralight is solving a long-standing need.

Ultralight also plans to support more complex practice models, such as multi-location networks and hybrid insurance and cash-pay setups. The company has rebranded from Vibrant Practice and has created a clinician advisory board with experts, including Dr. Jordan Shlain, Dr. George Papanicolaou, Dr. Brian Hollett, and Dr. Alexis Gonzales.

“Personalized medicine is crossing the chasm, driven by clinicians leaving legacy systems to build independent practices and by patients demanding deeper, root-cause care. We believe Ultralight can become the system of record for this shift: a single, AI native platform that integrates the clinical and operational silos that have held modern care back.” - Phin Barnes, co founder and Managing Partner at TheGP.

“Ultralight has allowed me to do what I think I do best — and that's being fully present with my patients.“ - Dr. Dannette Kallay

"Doctors are rediscovering the medicine they went into the field to practice — and then finding out the software doesn't exist to support it," said Mohanty. "We built Ultralight to be the system they should have had from day one."

Ultralight co-founder Sunita Mohanty was inspired to start the company after her own health journey. After being diagnosed with an autoimmune condition and told surgery was her only option, she chose a more personalized, data-driven approach and reached full remission in eight months. This experience showed her what modern care could be—and how limited access to it is.

She then spent a year working closely with doctors providing this type of care. She found they were spending hours managing data across different systems instead of focusing on patients, highlighting a major gap Ultralight aims to solve.
