US startup PerZeption Inc. teams up with Alcon Research

May 2, 2026 | By Startuprise io

Vision correction evaluation is improving, and there is a need for methods that are both accurate and efficient in detecting important changes in vision. To support this, PerZeption will present new data on its AIM+ CSF modeling technology at the ARVO annual meeting.

Attendees can find out more about this new approach at the poster session on May 4, 2026, from 11:15 AM to 1:00 PM at poster board #0941.

The abstract, titled *“AIM+ CSF modeling enables efficient detection of clinically meaningful visual differences,”* explains how PerZeption’s technology enables accurate, low-effort vision testing for evaluating vision correction. It focuses on detecting small but important changes in visual performance.

The data show that with about 6 adaptive stimulus displays and 2 repeats, around 20 participants can achieve 90% power to detect a 1 JND (Just Noticeable Difference) change in AULCSF (Area Under the Log Contrast Sensitivity Function). The study also shows that AIM+ CSF is highly repeatable in under 3 minutes, is unbiased, and delivers strong, reliable results for objective vision assessment.

"In addition to all the exciting research presentations that leverage PerZeption technology at this year's ARVO meeting, we are also proud to be showcasing PerZeption's battery of functional tests at our booth, #4027." Dr. Skerswetat added and noted that there will be opportunities to try out our technology.

"We are very excited to collaborate with Alcon, one of the largest companies within the Ophthalmology sector worldwide, "Dr. Jan Skerswetat said. "The results, presented by Dr Derek Nankivil, indicate that our technology enables rapid, repeatable, and highly sensitive assessment of contrast vision."

About PerZeption Inc

Founded in 2021, PerZeption offers a fast, self-administered vision-testing platform based on adaptive psychophysics, delivered via cloud software on standard tablets or all-in-one computers. Its main platform, Angular Indication Measurement (AIM), can test more than 20 visual functions and introduces new tests not available on existing devices.

The system reduces chair time by allowing tests to be done on a single device with minimal training, space, and patient effort, unlike bulky traditional equipment. With cloud-based delivery, it also supports secure in-clinic and remote testing, delivering consistent, trackable results for clinicians and pharmaceutical companies.
