Why the Funding Matters
Whop plans to use the funding to expand internationally and invest in research and development.
The company is developing tools that help entrepreneurs launch businesses, reach customers and manage operations with AI. Its recent product launches include Business Blueprints, Whop CLI and Economic Intelligence.
Who founded Whop?
Whop was founded in 2021 by Steven Schwartz, Jack Sharkey and Cameron Zoub.
The company is headquartered in Palo Alto, California.
"We take inspiration from the traditional economy in designing Whop, and because businesses are the primary conduit by which people earn money and create value, we focus on them as our primary customer," said Steven Schwartz, Co-founder and CEO of Whop.
"They're doing about a half billion in revenue, the business is doing great, and we're helping humanity create businesses for people who can't find a job", said Doug Leone, Partner at Sequoia Capital.
Market and Business Growth
Whop reports that around 25,000 business operators generate $550 million on the platform each month. It also provides an income source for more than 50,000 people who contribute to those businesses every month.
Since launching Business Blueprints six weeks before the announcement, more than 21,000 businesses have been created through the product.
Whop CLI and its Model Context Protocol (MCP) connectors collectively receive more than 350,000 calls per day and have over 14,700 monthly active users.
What Happens Next?
Whop plans to use its new funding to expand into more markets and continue developing its business creation and AI-powered tools.
The company aims to help more people launch online businesses, reach specialised customer groups and generate income through its platform.
