SUMMARY

  • CareLumi raised $2.5 million in pre-seed funding.
  • The funds will support product development.

CareLumi, a Chicago, IL-based provider of a verification layer platform for healthcare AI, has raised $2.5 million in a Pre-Seed funding round.

The round was led by Izou Partners with participation from Fifth Star Funds, Longjump Ventures, Wellforge, SCS Innovations, University of Chicago Booth, Illinois DCEO, and Chicago Early Growth Ventures.

The company will use the funding to accelerate product development and expand the deployment of its verification technology. Its platform aims to improve patient safety, simplify provider verification and strengthen oversight of AI tools used in healthcare.

What is CareLumi?

CareLumi develops a verification platform that helps healthcare organisations monitor the actions performed by employees, AI models and automated software systems.

Its technology works with existing healthcare software to log, check and trace actions. It can flag errors, identify failures and provide an audit trail showing who or what was responsible. The platform also applies compliance safeguards across administrative and clinical workflows.

One of its main areas of focus is provider credentialing and payer enrolment. These processes involve verifying clinicians' qualifications, licences, permits and clinical privileges, as well as enrolling them with insurance payers. Delays in these processes can affect when healthcare professionals are allowed to practise and bill for services.

Who founded CareLumi?

CareLumi was founded in 2025 by Shai Basys, Claire Chen, and Eshan Saran. The company is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.

"AI is entering healthcare fast, and we know it can do the work. But healthcare organizations must be able to prove the output is correct," said chief executive officer and co-founder Shai Basys.

Market and Business Growth

CareLumi is entering a market where healthcare organisations are adopting AI tools but continue to face challenges in monitoring their use.

A survey of 105 healthcare organisations cited in the funding announcement found that 91% could not verify all the AI systems operating in their environments. Only 14% said they fully validated vendors' AI controls.

The company is positioning its platform as a verification layer that works beneath existing healthcare software rather than replacing the systems organisations already use.

What Happens Next?

CareLumi plans to accelerate the deployment of its platform and continue developing tools for provider verification and AI oversight.

The company will focus on helping healthcare organisations track human and AI-driven actions, identify errors and maintain compliance across clinical and administrative operations.
