Northwood Space Corp., a Torrance, CA-based provider of a shared ground network connecting satellites to Earth, has raised $375 million in a Series C funding round.
The round was co-led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and DFJ Growth with participation from Alpine Space Ventures, Washington Harbour Partners, Stepstone Activate, In-Q-Tel (IQT), and others.
The company will use the funding to deliver on existing contracts, hire more employees and expand its global ground network for commercial, US government and allied space missions.
What is Northwood Space?
Northwood Space provides a shared ground network that connects satellites to Earth. Its platform allows satellite operators to access ground communication infrastructure without building, and maintaining their own ground stations.

The company designs and manufactures its own modular antennas in Torrance, California. Its Portal phased arrays support satellite command and control, while Prism high-throughput dishes handle payload data.
Northwood combines this hardware with its own software, which allows operators to search, reserve, update and cancel satellite communication passes through an API. Its Mission Architects also help customers with deployment and network operations.
How Much Funding Has Northwood Space Raised?
Northwood Space raised $375 million in its Series C funding round. The source did not disclose the company's total funding raised or details of its earlier funding rounds.
Who Invested in Northwood Space’s Series C?
The Series C round was co-led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and DFJ Growth.
Other participating investors include Alpine Space Ventures, Washington Harbour Partners, Stepstone Activate and In-Q-Tel (IQT), along with additional investors.
Why the Funding Matters
Northwood plans to use the capital to accelerate work on existing customer contracts, expand its team and build more sites for its global ground network.
The investment will support its efforts to serve commercial satellite operators, US government agencies and allied space missions.
Who founded Northwood Space?
Northwood Space was founded by Bridgit Mendler, Griffin Cleverly and Shaurya Luthra. The company is headquartered in Torrance, California, where it designs and manufactures its antenna systems.
In September, Northwood opened a new 185,000-square-foot headquarters and factory. The facility is designed to support production of hundreds of antennas each year.
“The world is hungry for more data movement through space, and that is what Northwood is building for with scalable network capacity for the most challenging use cases,” said Bridgit Mendler, co-founder and CEO of Northwood.
Market and Business Growth
Since its Series B round, Northwood has brought six ground network sites online across two continents. It also demonstrated a satellite link in geostationary orbit for the US Space Force, expanding it's work beyond low Earth orbit.
Northwood's network is designed to expand faster than traditional ground station infrastructure. A new site can be built in around three months, while new antennas can become operational within three to four hours of arriving at a location.
Its customers include US government agencies, newer space companies and established satellite operators. The company competes with providers such as KSAT, AWS Ground Station, Sweden's SSC, Atlas Space Operations and Leaf Space.
What Happens Next?
Northwood will focus on expanding its global network, fulfilling existing contracts and increasing antenna production. It also plans to recruit 400 employees over the next three years.
The company aims to increase network capacity and support more satellite missions across low Earth orbit, geostationary orbit and other orbital operations.
