Lumos Insurance Names Tom Kenny Managing Director and Senior Vice President

Tom brings more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry across the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia. His expertise includes retirement income solutions, long term care and insurance product development.

In his new role, Tom will lead the development of Lumos' reinsurance operations, helping expand the company's retirement and senior-market business in the UK, the US, and other global markets.

Tom joins Lumos from Just Group plc, a leading UK retirement-focused insurer, where he most recently served as Group Property & Credit Risk Director. In that role, he helped lead key initiatives, including the implementation of Solvency UK reforms, a new investment framework, and a credit-rating validation process.

During his 14 years at Just Group, Tom held a variety of leadership roles across pricing, product development, medical underwriting, mortgage underwriting, and property management. He worked on retirement-focused products, including enhanced annuities and equity release mortgages, building deep expertise across the retirement and protection market.

Earlier in his career, Tom built the bulk purchase annuity pricing team at Partnership Assurance and held positions at MetLife, Munich Re, Asteron Life, and Willis Towers Watson. His experience spans insurance, retirement planning, risk management, and product development.

Lumos has a strong history in the credit protection market, providing credit life, health, and property insurance to banks, credit unions and specialty lenders. Toms appointment supports the company's expansion into retirement and senior market solutions as demand for these services continues to grow.

Tom is a respected actuary in the UK retirement and long-term care sectors. He currently serves as Chair of the IFoA Social Care Working Party, which has been recognized for its contributions to discussions on social care policy. He has also authored several papers and articles on long-term care funding and equity release mortgages.
