Prefix, a NYC-based provider of a facility management platform for multi-site restaurant and retail operators, has raised a $7.5 million in a Seed funding round led by Collide Capital and Slow Ventures.
The round also saw participation from Connexa Capital, Kyle Archer of Elevated Inc, and existing investors I2BF and Bienville Capital.
The company plans to use the funds to keep building its AI infrastructure, increase sales and marketing, and scale its platform to serve more than 10,000 locations across the United States.
A prefix reduces the gap between technicians and CMMS systems by serving as a smooth coordination layer that integrates with existing tools. Using AI, it automates tasks and connects local contractors with large, multi site businesses, helping repair and maintenance work get done faster, at lower cost, and more reliably.
Prefix manages 24/7 on-demand repair and maintenance for HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and other essential services, ensuring fast response times, reliable timelines and competitive pricing. It also connects operators and service providers through two-way communication, covering everything from job confirmation and on-site updates to completion and invoicing.
Retail and restaurant chains with many locations spend about $500 billion each year on maintenance. Yet, they still struggle to keep operations running smoothly, losing over 10% of profits due to inefficiencies and outdated systems. Managing multiple sites and coordinating with thousands of local vendors is complex, and many skilled technicians lack the tools needed to meet the compliance requirements of large brands that rely on CMMS systems, further complicating the process.

“We started Prefix to solve major problems in managing multiple locations by improving data, communication, and service,” said CEO Jared Schwartzentruber. “We help businesses run operations more smoothly, both in stores and behind the scenes. Facility uptime is critical—if something like air conditioning breaks, businesses can lose revenue and customer trust. Our goal is to make facility management easier for both companies and the local professionals who support them.”
“Prefix takes the uncertainty out of facility management. When an issue happens during busy hours, it needs immediate attention. Their 24/7 support, real time job tracking, and dedicated account manager give our team confidence that everything is handled,” said Newell Slade, Senior Facilities Manager at Cafe Zupas, which uses Prefix across 100 locations in 8 states.
“Managing many locations means working with hundreds of vendors across different regions, each with their own ways of working,” said Brian Hollins, Founder and Managing Partner of Collide Capital. “Prefix solves this by connecting large brands with reliable local technicians through one consistent system helping businesses operate smoothly across all their locations.”
