Rogue, a Los Angeles, California-based developer of high-protein chips and snacks formulated with active probiotics, has raised $2.5 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Science Inc., with participation from Uncommon VC, Simple Food Ventures, and additional strategic investors.
The company plans to use the funding to accelerate its retail expansion nationwide, increase inventory production for its upcoming launch in Walmart stores, and expand its creator and affiliate partnership network.
Rogue will launch online in early May and expand nationally to 2,800 Walmart stores in July, where its products will be placed in the protein and sports nutrition section. The launch will include four products, including a Churro flavor made exclusively for Walmart.
Beyond retail stores, Rogue is also building a creator driven sales strategy focused on digital consumers. The company has partnered with health, wellness and fitness creators to promote products and drive sales through platforms such as TikTok Shop and Amazon, helping the brand grow both online and in stores.
Science Inc., the venture studio behind brands such as Dollar Shave Club, Liquid Death, and Final Boss Sour, created Rogue. Rogue is the studio’s first product launch in the fast-growing high-protein snack category, where products with more than 10 grams of protein are becoming increasingly popular in grocery stores.
Demand for high protein snacks in the U.S. continues to grow quickly, with the market expected to reach about $1.8 billion in 2025 and continue growing steadily over the next decade. As consumers seek healthier, convenient, and performance focused foods, major food companies are expanding into the protein snack category through new product launches and acquisitions.
Rogue aims to stand out from traditional snack brands by offering protein chips, and puffs with bold flavors, active probiotics for digestion support, and no seed oils or artificial ingredients. The brand focuses on combining strong taste with nutrition and functionality.

“Protein snacking is a massive and growing category, but most brands are still being built for the old playbook of win the shelf first, figure out the brand later,” said Michael Jones, General Partner at Science Inc. “Rogue flips that model. We’ve built a digital-first brand with retail scale through Walmart. That ensures a national footprint from day one and combines product innovation, creator-led distribution to accelerate adoption.”
“Protein snacks have become a massive category, but consumers have been forced to sacrifice taste for function,” said Tommy Riggs, Co-Founder of Rogue. “We created Rogue so you don’t have to compromise — you can have wild and delicious flavors, real performance benefits, and clean ingredients in one snack.”
