The Vistria Group Names John Atkinson as Operating Partner

Atkinson has over 20 years of leadership experience in insurance brokerage, risk management, and human capital services. Most recently, he led one of Marsh’s fastest-growing business units in the U.S. and Canada, building large client-focused platforms in complex insurance markets.

His appointment shows Vistria’s continued focus on insurance as a key investment area, alongside wealth management and its core sectors, such as healthcare, education, and housing. Atkinson will also help support portfolio companies across these areas when needed.

Vistria’s Financial Services portfolio is growing across these themes, including The Mather Group, a national wealth management firm; Daybright Financial, which provides benefits solutions for the K-12 and public sector; and Flores & Associates, a provider of health benefit solutions for small and mid-sized employers.

Atkinson joins Vistria’s Financial Services Operating Partners team, which includes experienced leaders in insurance and financial services, including Albert Benchimol, former CEO of AXIS Capital; Mark Smith, former President of K2 Insurance Services; and Christi Byron, a senior expert in insurance distribution and operations.
