WisdomTree Appoints John Whelan as Head of Strategy

John Whelan brings nearly 10 years of experience in blockchain and digital assets. He previously served as Managing Director of Digital Assets at Banco Santander’s Corporate and Investment Bank, where he built and led the bank’s blockchain lab starting in 2016. Earlier in his career, he founded a venture-backed blockchain startup focused on institutional credit ratings.

John Whelan will report to Will Peck and join the Digital Assets leadership team at WisdomTree, Inc. Based in the United States, he will lead strategic planning for the business and oversee key initiatives, including the companys strategic investment activities.

Whelan will work closely with the business development and product teams to strengthen partnerships and shape product strategy. He will focus on expanding relationships with financial institutions and crypto companies while helping grow WisdomTree’s presence in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. His experience in stablecoins, digital assets and banking will support the companys efforts to increase assets under management and grow its digital asset platform.
